Monero (XMR)
Asset ID: 17
Monero (XMR) is a cryptocurrency introduced in 2014 that focuses on enabling private, untraceable transactions. In contrast to Bitcoin, where all activity is visible on a public blockchain, Monero relies on advanced cryptographic methods to conceal key transaction details such as the sender, receiver, and transferred amount. This makes tracking payments or associating them with specific individuals крайне difficult.
The project was built with strong attention to privacy and security, aiming to offer financial confidentiality without requiring users to possess deep technical knowledge. Its network supports relatively fast, low-cost peer-to-peer transfers while helping minimize the risks of censorship and external monitoring.
Monero was developed by a group of seven individuals, five of whom remained anonymous. It originated from Bytecoin, an earlier privacy-focused cryptocurrency launched in 2012. In 2014, a Bitcointalk user under the alias “thankfulfortoday” forked Bytecoin’s code to create Monero after disagreements over the project’s direction. Since then, its development has been driven by a broad and active community.
Another advantage of Monero is its ability to limit price discrimination in online markets. Because transaction history and user identity are hidden, sellers cannot tailor prices based on purchasing patterns or geographic data.
Monero uses a proof-of-work consensus mechanism built on the CryptoNight algorithm. This approach helps preserve decentralization by reducing the dominance of large mining operations and encouraging wider participation among miners.
The value and functionality of Monero’s native token, XMR, are closely linked to its privacy features. It is a fungible asset, meaning each unit is indistinguishable from another regardless of its past usage. This ensures users can transact without concerns about the history of specific coins. XMR is also used in business contexts, allowing companies to send and receive payments without exposing
