Quant (QNT) is a blockchain-based protocol created to enable interoperability between different blockchain networks. It is mainly targeted at institutions such as banks and asset management companies, offering capabilities like blockchain-secured asset and data transfer as well as cross-border payment solutions.
The Quant protocol enables interoperability across various blockchain systems, including Bitcoin, Ripple, and Ethereum. It operates as a decentralized payment validation system through its blockchain-agnostic Overledger API gateway.
Quant divides blockchain functionality into three layers: transaction, messaging, and filtering and ordering, each serving a distinct role. The transaction layer handles the validation of transactions across multiple blockchains, while the messaging layer enables data communication between them. The filtering and ordering layer is responsible for verifying off-chain data and supporting interactions with decentralized applications (DApps).
The Quant ecosystem is composed of the Quant Overledger Network, which enables data exchange between different blockchains; the Quant Overledger DLT Gateway, which supports cross-chain smart contract execution and token transfers; and Quant MApps, which are decentralized applications built to run across multiple blockchain networks using Quant technology.
