KCS is the native token of KuCoin, introduced in 2017 as a profit-sharing asset designed to give traders additional value within the exchange ecosystem. Initially launched as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network, it is compatible with most Ethereum-based wallets. The total KCS supply was capped at 200 million tokens, with an ongoing buyback and burn mechanism aimed at reducing the circulating supply to 100 million over time. As KuCoin continues developing its decentralized trading infrastructure, KCS is expected to serve as the core asset for its decentralized financial services and as a governance token for the broader KuCoin community.
KuCoin has also stated that strengthening the utility of KCS remains one of its major strategic goals. Through its “Empowering KCS” initiative, the company aims to position KCS as more than just a utility token by expanding its role across the ecosystem and increasing the advantages available to holders. Over time, KCS is intended to become a central element of the entire KuCoin ecosystem. With the advancement of KuCoin’s DEX and KuChain infrastructure, KCS is also expected to function as the primary fuel and foundational token for upcoming decentralized KuCoin products, with further updates anticipated in the future.
