The Canton Network is a Layer-1 smart contract blockchain designed for institutional use, offering configurable privacy and control mechanisms to support the adoption of RWAs and traditional financial institutions on public networks. It operates with a dual-layer consensus model that enables unlimited horizontal scaling while preserving complete smart contract interoperability across the ecosystem. At the core of the network, the Global Synchronizer serves as the foundational backbone connecting all participants.
Canton Coin (CC) functions as the utility token of the network, used for paying application and infrastructure fees on the Global Synchronizer, while also serving as an incentive and reward mechanism for network participants.
All Canton Coin are distributed based on utility contributions to the network, including:
Operating the Global Synchronizer (Super Validator rewards)
Running full nodes to provide network connectivity (Validator rewards)
Operating applications and services (Application rewards)
Reward distribution follows a predefined mining curve, including halving events and allocation splits between these three participant groups.
All network fees are burned, supporting efficient price discovery driven by network utility through the Burn-Mint Equilibrium (BME) model.
