Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Asset ID: 12
Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is a cryptocurrency and blockchain that emerged in 2017 after a split from the Bitcoin network. It was developed with modifications to the original Bitcoin protocol aimed at increasing transaction speed and improving scalability.
The key distinction between Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin lies in the block size used to record transactions. Disagreements within the Bitcoin community in 2017 led to the creation of Bitcoin Cash, which supports much larger block sizes, allowing more transactions to be processed per block.
Although both Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin share core features—such as a maximum supply of 21 million coins and the use of a proof-of-work (PoW) consensus mechanism—Bitcoin Cash focuses on enabling quicker and more efficient peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions.
